A long period of snowfall, with total amounts of 10 to 20 cm is expected. Snow will develop over all areas of the south coast this morning as a Pacific frontal system approaches from the northwest. Periods of snow will continue through most of tonight as the associated low pressure system crosses the area. Total snowfall amounts will range between 10 and 20 cm through tonight. Areas near the water will see the lower amounts as the snow becomes wet or mixed with rain this afternoon and tonight. Localized higher amounts of near 25 cm are possible near the North Shore Mountains. The snow will end late overnight as the low moves to the south.
Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ec.tempetepacifique-pacificstorm.ec@canada.ca or tweet reports using #BCStorm.
